One Plus One by JoJo Moyes (Audiobook)

February 9, 2015 by Darlene

one

Once again JoJo Moyes hits it out of the park for me with her book One Plus One. She has fast become one of my favorite authors and I know when I pick up one of her books I am guaranteed a fantastic read – or listening experience! One Plus One is a story of a family in chaos. I shed some tears and laughed but most of all I just truly loved the story.

Jess is a single mom who is struggling to keep it all together. Her husband left her a few years ago with a young daughter and teenage stepson who has his own issues. To top it all off her daughter Tanzie who is a math whiz has a once in a lifetime opportunity to participate in a Math Olympiad which will give her a scholarship to a prestigious school which is something Jess will never be able to do for her otherwise. The problem – Jess can’t afford to get Tanzie there and yet she can’t afford not to either as she desperately wants this for Tanzie.

Then we have Ed who has a life completely different from the one Jess is living. He never has to give a second thought to money but one mistake finds his life in a chaotic mess too. Ultimately their two worlds meet and Ed finds himself driving all of them to the Math Olympiad. What follows is both funny and at times heartbreaking. Both Jess and Ed take a journey that finds them in the end knowing just what they want from life.

I loved the wonderful characters and the great story found in One Plus One. I listened to the audiobook which is narrated by Elizabeth Bower, Ben Elliot, Nicola Stanton, and Steven France. One word for this audio production – fantastic! I loved every minute of this twelve hour audio and only regretted when it ended.

Highly recommended for fans of women’s fiction!

Sounds like this could be a great road-trip movie, similar to Little Miss Sunshine.

Your blog is really nice looking, simple and easy to read.
