Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. Ours was pretty quiet. It turned quite chilly here and I’m still recovering from my cold a bit so we stayed in. It’s hard to go from really warm to really cool all in a matter of a day. I was almost expecting snow flurries on Saturday morning it was so cold. LOL.
Today I’m going to spend the day reading to try and get ahead with all the reading I need to do for this week. For some reason I took on quite a bit but it’s all good. Two of the books I’m reading for this week are by two of my favorite authors – A Week at the Lake by Wendy Wax and The Idea of Love by Patti Callahan Henry. The other book I have this week promises to be quite good too – it’s called The Lover’s Path: An Illustrated Novella of Venice by Kris Waldherr. Hopefully some of that reading can be done outside but I’m kind of doubtful on that.

Well that’s it for this week. Short and sweet but I do have a few pictures to share. Sam actually let me take a few so maybe if I keep continually pointing the phone at him he’ll start letting me take pictures. lol.
This is the storm that hit us with a vengeance on Friday night. The picture at the top of the post is the corresponding wannabe rainbow. The rain was coming down so hard that it was flooding the street and you can see how dark it was. There wasn’t enough thunder and lightening for me though but this was our first storm of the summer.
A little baby marigold. In another month or so I bet it’ll be pretty big but I think they’re so cute when they are this small. Our neighbor grows the seedlings and gives us a bunch to plant every year. Apparently they are supposed to be good for getting rid of mosquitoes but I have no proof of that.
Here is that yellow rose bush in full bloom. I just love them!
On our walks there is this wall kind of thing that goes around this crazy corner we have and if there is another dog walking across the street Sammy likes to stretch himself as far as he can and peer over to bark. It’s too cute!
Awwwww. Mommy just loves this photo!
Hey mommy, how’s this for a cute picture? Know what mommy? I love you! (Mommy loves you too Sammy!)
Have a great Sunday everyone! Anybody with any plans or just a lazy Sunday afternoon? Hope you all have a great week ahead.
I know that changing weather is tough on you. It’s nothing but hot here now but I’m not complaining. My dad used to plant marigolds around his vegetable garden to keep nematodes out and I don’t know if that worked or not either. Sammy is soooo cute!!
Kathy, yes the weather changes really get to me. As long as it warm I felt great but not now. Oh well such is life I guess. I have never heard of nematodes but I looked it up and now I’ve learned a new word. lol.
Love your rainbow picture. We are having storms this week and it is actually storming outside right now. The rain is good for our area, but I’d like it to come at a more moderate pace than it did in May. There was flooding then. The flip side – the mosquitoes and the mold count and the humidity. Ah, summer in Texas. Have a good week!
Kay it wasn’t much of a rainbow considering the rain storm we had but I still liked it. We really need rain here as we’ve got forest fires raging all over. It’s typical for summertime here but so devastating for many. So far no mosquitoes. I wish they wouldn’t come at all but I doubt that’ll happen. Hope you have a good week as well!
Nice pics of the rainbow and of course, adorable Sammy! I love the pics of him on the chair, he looks like a puppy! We are having similar weather, rainy and hot and humid here.
Bonnie, he looked so sweet on the couch. That’s really his couch as you can tell by all his blankets on it. He always sits with his little paws hanging over the edge while he keeps a close eye on the street outside.
That sweet Sammy is just too cute! Your yellow rose bush is gorgeous! What kind of roses are they? My yellow roses are pale yellow and then turn white/cream. Not nearly as pretty as your’s.
Michelle, they are tea roses and they are gorgeous when they bloom. I got the picture jut in time too as they were all wilted by this morning.
My gosh, your rose bush is amazing! And I think Sammy just keeps getting cuter all of the time!
Lisa, it is gorgeous. We’ve got three of them out front but this one is the fullest and prettiest. Yes Sammy knows he’s that cute too. lol.
We had a quiet weekend for the most part too. We’re in between soccer seasons, and so have a couple week’s break to enjoy sleeping in Saturday mornings. I got in some reading, which is a rarity. I finished two books I had been working my way through. Yay!
I hope Sammy’s skin condition clears up soon. Have a great week, Darlene!
That rainbow photo almost makes the storm seem worth it! I keep saying I need to read Wendy Wax… hopefully this summer. Hope Sammy is feeling better.
JoAnn, I love rainbows. That one wasn’t too bright but still pretty. I always say this but it’s impossible to keep up to all the good books out there but during the summer it is nice to have some of the lighter fun reads to enjoy.
Sammy is still struggling unfortunately. He’ll probably need another needle next week poor guy.
I SO wish we could have some weather. The water agencies and city just told us to cut back our water usage by 32% which is damn near impossible since we already cut it back last year by 25% or close to that. I don’t know how we are going to survive the summer without water. The hillsides are about to spontaneously combust.
Ti, that’s horrible. We’ve got the water but with how the fires rage it’s impossible to fight them and they spread. It seems to happen every summer. Thankfully this year the wind hasn’t yet turned in the direction of the city I live in because when it does our air quality is dangerous. I really don’t know how the people survive that live right where the fires are.
Beautiful flowers! Hope you and Sammy are completely recovered soon!
Anna, I’m pretty much recovered but poor Sammy is still struggling. Poor little guy can’t get a break.
