In a Nutshell
Paris Time Capsule by Ella Carey is a beautiful debut novel that is actually based on a real abandoned apartment in Paris. With its blend of history, romance, mystery, and let’s not forget the magical setting of Paris this book is sure to please readers. Seriously who wouldn’t want to inherit a Belle Époque apartment in the ninth arrondissement? I know I would!
Audio Thoughts
This is a wonderful audiobook narrated by Emily Sutton-Smith who is one of my favorite narrators. Any book I’ve listened to that she’s narrated has been so well done and Paris Time Capsule is no different. She really captured the ‘feel’ of Paris for me.
Reflections
Cat Jordan is a photographer just about to set out on her life with her boyfriend. That is until she receives a package in the mail from Paris and learns that she has inherited the estate of a Isabelle de Florian, a complete stranger to her. Completely mystified she travels to Paris and finds that she has inherited an abandoned Belle Époque apartment in the ninth arrondissement and it’s in perfect order. However upon speaking to Isabelle’s family Cat finds that she just can’t accept someone else’s inheritance like this even though they insist she does. Instead she sets out to find out who Isabelle de Florian was, why she abandoned the apartment, and why she would ever leave the apartment to Cat instead of her own family. As Cat explores more she finds that maybe her life in New York wasn’t all that she thought it was. What she knows is that she needs to figure out just what it is she wants for her future.
Fancy It or Not
I loved this book especially in audio. Books that take place in Paris always hold an attraction for me and this one had such a great story to go along with it about the actual true story of an abandoned apartment. The author does a wonderful job of blending history and fiction in a story I know will enchant readers as it did me. Highly recommended!

Hallo, Hallo! 🙂
It’s been awhile since I’ve had the pleasure to follow fellow book bloggers on different tours than the ones I’m hosting as time has a way of slipping past me! This title caught my eye, and your review held my attention – mostly as I’ve been disappointed in the past about shuttered apartments in Paris, and this one felt to me to be a more drinkable account of words and narrative that might yield a more positive end result! 🙂 Thank you for that! 🙂 Likewise, I cast my hat into the fray, but evenso, I wanted to drop a note to say, your review convinced me to read this even if I’m borrowing it from my local library!
Cheers from another reader who happily loves blogging about books set in France! I might be swooned over the moon by England, but France has been held quite dearly close to my heart since I started book blogging! I now spend an equal amount of time in both countries and traversing through centuries as I explore their historical pasts!
I’ll try to remember to stop back once I’ve had the pleasure of reading this!
Since I lived in Paris for a number of years, this book really appeals to me! I love that city and the Parisian life. Am crossing my fingers to win the book. Thanks so much for the giveaway!

Paris Time Capsule sounds like a captivating read. On my TBR.
The right narrator is a tricky thing, so I’m always happy to get good audiobook recommendations!
