I can’t imagine why I waited so long to listen Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins but once I did I zipped through the whole series. The audio is narrated by Cris Dukehart who I haven’t listened to before but definitely would again. She adds just the right touch to this audio to make it even harder to stop listening. I’m thrilled that she narrates the whole series!
Sophie is a witch but she didn’t know that until she reached 12 years old as it had been kept secret from her. Sophie is also not so good with her magic which is very apparent the day she tries a love spell for a girl at school and it doesn’t come off so good. And that is exactly how she ends up at Hex Hall – a boarding school for witches, warlocks, vampires, etc. that have caused too much apparent trouble in the mortal world.
Right from the start Sophie doesn’t fit in. She wasn’t brought up knowing what she is and she fits in even less when she refuses to join a coven of the most popular witches. And then there is Archer, one of the most popular boys at school who she is quickly developing a crush on. Things take a turn when students start getting attacked at school and Sophie begins taking magic lessons from one of the resident ghosts. As things spiral out of control Sophie is busy trying to prove her vampire roommate is innocent of the crimes while it’s becoming apparent that Sophie is becoming one of the hunted herself. What’s a witch to do? Or is she really a witch?
I loved this audiobook! Sophie is funny, sarcastic, and had me laughing more than once. I always enjoy stories of witches and all and listening to it made it all the more enjoyable for me. Tune in tomorrow for a review of Demonglass – the seond book in the series.

This sounds cute!
I haven’t read or listened to many witch stories, Darlene. This one does sound bewitching (sorry, couldn’t resist).
