I love the writing of Amy Hatvany. Her books never fail to leave me feeling extremely emotional and It Happens All the Time was no different.
Amber and Tyler have been friends since they were teenagers – best friends. They’ve always been there for each other through the good and the really bad times. Tyler is the one person Amber feels closest to and the person she feels she can implicitly trust.
With Amber home from college and her fiancé living elsewhere she and Tyler begin spending more time together. Amber finds herself wondering if she rushed into saying yes to marriage. These feelings all culminate one evening at a party where the friendship she and Tyler share will irrevocably change.
This is such a powerful story that highlights the issue of consent and also shares all the conflicting emotions an individual feels in a situation that is completely out of their control. In my opinion ‘no’ or ‘stop’, no matter when it’s uttered revokes consent. For those with book clubs this novel would make an excellent choice with much for discussion. Another excellent novel from Amy Hatvany!

I love it when an author includes an issue in their book – this sounds like a winner to me. I wonder if my book club would read it.
Thanks for the tip. I’ll be bringing this one up at book club.
