Alice receives an invitation from her university friend Karen inviting her for a stay in a remote cottage in Scotland. Karen had been Alice’s best friend in university – well really her only friend. Having not heard from Karen in ages Alice is excited to see her friend and her baby. Upon getting out there though Alice is disappointed to learn that two more of Karen’s university friends will be there as well.
Soon enough Alice begins to notice a marked change in her friend’s manner. She isn’t the warm person that Alice remembers. She’s cold and can be quite mean at times. The whole stay is becoming quite disturbing and even more so when someone is discovered dead.
Alice finds herself in a mess. There’s a major snow storm and Karen is making her out to be crazy and accusing her of all kinds of things. As the story winds down the ending is a twisted surprise.
I listened to the audiobook which is narrated by Emma Powell who I’ve listened to before. I really enjoy her narration and she brought just the right amount of creepiness to this story. Recommended for those who enjoy psychological thrillers. I really enjoyed it.
