As I get started on this review it is pouring rain outside and I’m once again reminded why I love books so much. They can whisk you away to another world on a gloomy day. Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier was such a good listen for me. This is one of those books that once you start it you don’t want to put it down and I’m always game for a good thriller any day.
This novel grabs you from the beginning when it opens with Marin at a market with her young son Sebastian. She’s preoccupied for only a moment but that’s all it takes for her boy to be taken. Then she’s left with a before and after situation. Before Marin had a picture perfect life and after it all collapsed around her.
Over the course of the following year the search for her son has stopped so she hires a private investigator who doesn’t find her son but finds out her husband is having an affair. This is the one thing that puts Marin in a rage and makes her feel somewhat alive again. As she puts a plan in motion to rid herself of this problem she could never imagine all of the devastating secrets that would also come to light. Has she trusted the wrong people? Will she ever get her son back or is he gone forever?
I listened to the audiobook which was ten and a half hours. It is narrated by Kirsten Potter who is fantastic! She’s a favorite narrator of mine and I’ve listened to her many times. She’s so easy to listen to and I never hesitate to choose a book she’s narrating.
If you’re a fan of thrillers as I am you can’t go wrong with this one! I really enjoyed it!
