Sunday Ramblings & Pics of Buddy and Mommy

March 28, 2010 by Darlene

Good morning everyone!  It’s a beautiful day here today and it’s supposed to stay that way so that makes me very happy.  Summer is coming – now let’s just hope that all this bragging doesn’t get me more snow like it did last week.  lol.  I can’t wait until  it’s warm enough to venture outside and drink my coffee on my bench in the morning again.

I got some good news the other day – my test results came back and they were good.  No cancer (yahooooooooooooooo) but I’m probably looking at some surgery.  Buddy has some health issues again – he’s got too much protein in his piddle so now I have to worry about his kidneys.  The vets going to do a follow up in a couple of weeks and if it still shows the same thing he’s going to analyze his blood next.  My poor little puppy has sure had a rough time of it lately.  It’s hard to believe he’s already going to be 8 years old soon but he is.  At the end of the post I have some pics of him and I so stay tuned.

I’m reading Magnolia Wednesdays by Wendy Wax and The Season of Second Chances by Diane Meier right now.  I’m really enjoying Magnolia Wednesdays and The Season of Second Chances seems to be starting off very good too.  Next up I’ve got a few historical fiction books to read that I’m looking forward to – Mistress of Rome by Kate Quinn and The Queen’s Pawn by Christy English.  April is going to be a very busy month for me with reading.

Now on to share some pics that my mom was nice enough to take of Buddy giving his mommy some much needed love… Enjoy…

First up is Buddy getting ready to moo-moo his mommy…
Next are a few shots of me getting all kinds of moo-moos…
And finally Buddy laying down and giving me the eye while waiting for the treats he knows he’s going to get after all that effort of kissing his mommy…
I hope you’ve all enjoyed the pictures of the day.  I wasn’t exactly at my most attractive for these because I was too busy trying to stay warm.  The house was freezing.  However, Buddy always looks adorable no matter what.
So, what is everyone up to today?  Are you spending time with your family, catching up on housework (like I should be doing before I’m buried in laundry), or are you just relaxing with a book?  Whatever it is I hope you’re having the best day you can!

Sunday Ramblings & Pic of Buddy

March 21, 2010 by Darlene

Good morning everyone! I hope you’re all having a nice Sunday so far. It’s still fairly early here so I’m still working on a cup of coffee. It’s a nice day here again. We’ve been very lucky here as March has been a very nice month. Let’s see now if it goes out like a lion. It’s a little cool out and is supposed to stay that way throughout the week but at least we have no snow and none coming and that’s all I care about. You can finally see our grass in the backyard although it’s brown and ugly right now.

I don’t have much planned today other than to get some books packed up and out to the people who are waiting for them. With not feeling well, trips to the post office have gone on the back burner. I’ve also got 3 reviews to write for this week. I’m not sure I’ll be able to get them all written today but I’m going to try.

What am I reading? Today I’m starting Love in Mid Air by Kim Wright for a blog tour with Hachette. I’m also reading Sugar by Bernice McFadden and Magnolia Wednesdays by Wendy Wax and really enjoying those two. This morning I finished The Stolen Crown by Susan Higginbotham – yet another fantastic novel by her – I really enjoyed it!

On the medical front, no results yet. It’ll be only 7 working days this week so I’m thinking my doctor should have them shortly. I hate the waiting but it seems to be that way for many here. You’re either waiting for results or waiting for something to be done. I’m still trying not to worry but worry is my middle name so that’s not going over really well.

Last but not least I have a picture of the Budster. As usual he’s not doing anything exciting other than staring at me which is his full time profession lately. I don’t know whether it’s age or what but he’s starting to act weird. His newest thing is he doesn’t want to eat in the morning. Then when he decides he does want to eat I have to get down there and feed it to him. It’s driving me crazy.

So what is everyone up to today? Are you all relaxing or doing something with your families? Getting some reading in? If so, what are you reading? I love hearing what everyone else is reading although it’s not always good for my wishlist. Whatever you’re doing I hope you’re having a good day.

I’d like to say a thank you to those who have been so supportive this last bit and emailed me good wishes and such – it’s amazing to me the great people and the friends I’ve met here and I’m thankful!

Have a great Sunday everybody!

Sunday Ramblings & Pic of Buddy

February 7, 2010 by Darlene

Good morning everyone! I hope this Sunday finds you all doing really well. I haven’t been around the blogging world much this past week as Buddy wasn’t feeling his best again. Not bad like before thankfully. I took him in to the vet on Friday and he’s taking a bit of medicine so hopefully that will take care of the problem and it won’t get worse.

I don’t have much planned for today. I hope to get lots of reading done and bake some cookies; maybe tackle some laundry. We’ll see, really I’m going to fly by the seat of my pants today and do whatever I feel like at that moment. Our weather is pretty good right now although cold. I’m grateful not to be getting the piles of snow others are right now because I’m much too familiar with that and we really have no room for more snow already. The piles in the backyard are pretty high now.

I’ve got a few reviews I hope to get posted this week so look out for those. Today I think I’m going to read more of Roses by Leila Meacham which I’m still really enjoying. Maybe a bit of Cane River and Ted Dekker’s new one called The Bride Collector which I’m just itching to get in to already. Oh and I have a bunch of giveaways to draw for. I hope to get all those done today as well.

Last but not least I’ll share a picture of my mom with Buddy. I’m sure some may be horrified that he’s on the table (nobody eats at that table by the way) but he’s spoiled and every once in a while he loves to lay up there and everyone goes out of their way to indulge this little guys whims.

So, what are you all up to today? Catching up on chores, going out, or perhaps reading a good book – let me know! Have a great Sunday everyone!

Sunday Ramblings & Pic of Buddy

January 31, 2010 by Darlene

Good morning everyone. It’s a snowy and cold morning here again. A nice day to curl up with a book and stay warm. I think about all I’ll do today is some laundry, plan something for dinner and hopefully get my posts ready for next week. The rest of the day I’m devoting to reading so I can get more books read in February than I did in January (which I need to post).

Today I’m reading Talking to the Dead by Bonnie Grove which I’m enjoying. Yesterday I finished Keeping the Feast by Paula Butturini which is a memoir and it was fantastic. Watch for my review on Tuesday for her book tour with TLC Book Tours. I’m also halfway through Specials by Scott Westerfeld and while I don’t think it’s as good as the other two I’ve read, I’m still hooked.

I got a few pictures of the monster this morning. I tried getting a picture or two yesterday but he was having none of it. I don’t think he likes his picture taken anymore. He’s getting cranky in his old age.

This first one is him having his morning cereal. He’s like a hoover with it; nose to the ground and he doesn’t even breathe until he’s eaten the last one.

This one is after he’s done his cereal. You can see him licking his chops! Yummo!

Now he’s just vegging on the living room floor staring at me like I still owe him something. Mommy trimmed him his hair a bit too and he’s none to happy about that either. Nothing new about that. lol.

So, what’s everyone else up to today? Do any of you have any plans or just taking a day to relax and enjoy? Whatever you choose to do I hope you have a wonderful day and a great week ahead!

Sunday Ramblings & Pic of Buddy

January 17, 2010 by Darlene

Good morning everyone! I hope you’re all having a great Sunday morning. I’m relaxing with a cup of coffee and some toast with the Budster on my shoulder looking out his favorite window. You certainly don’t want to be messing with his morning routine- lol. I tried that this morning and he wasn’t happy with me as you’ll see by the pictures I took. I’ll have to start carrying my camera throughout the day and maybe I can get him doing something other than glaring at me. Anyhow, here is your Buddy fix for the day. I know you can’t see his eyes too well – his hair is too long but that’ll be fixed today…

I’m trying to get a picture in the kitchen before I sit down but no can do. Mommy, I don’t want t a picture – I have a full belly now and I want to sit down.

Ooooooooh, we’re getting closer. I’m on the couch and she’s standing there but she’s still got that camera pointed at me. How about some morning cuddling mommy?

Enough is enough mommy!!! Get over here, put that camera away and sit down with me! Ok, so he won after that. I sat down. lol.

Not much happening this weekend. I didn’t feel well so I was just laying low. I finished Pretties yesterday so now I have two reviews I need to write. I struggled and struggled not to start the next one, Specials, but I lost. I opened it and started reading. It’s definitely an addictive series and I have to say I’ve found myself yet another new author that I’ll keep reading.

Now I’m reading Alice I Have Been for my tour date next week. I really am liking this book and it’s been hard to put it down. I’m also reading Roses which is another really good one and Talking to the Dead which is also good. So lucky me I have all good books that are calling to me and it is impossible to be able to read all three at the same time. I’m struggling with which one I’m going to pop open this afternoon. I have the feeling Alice I Have Been will win out today.

Our weather is fantastic. It’s been unseasonably warm here and our snow is melting down some. I keep hoping this will last until spring but that is very likely wishful thinking as I’m sure we’ll get more snow and cold yet. For now though I’m enjoying it immensely and so is Buddy on his walks.

Ok, I’m off to do some blog reading this morning. Then it’s time for the Budster to get a bit of a haircut. Yikes! He’s going to be even less pleased with me but he’s really hot with all that fur right now. I’m not cutting it short like in summer but enough to cool him down a bit. Then I hope to READ!

What do you all have planned for today? Did you do anything exciting this weekend?

Hours 9,10,11&12: Read-a-Thon Progress

April 19, 2009 by Darlene

Hello, I’m back. I logged off for a while to take a nap in the hopes I would rid myself of my headache. I didn’t fully succeed but it’s better than before. I had some dinner, cleaned up and now I’m settling in on the couch downstairs with all my goodies and the dog of course. On tv is What Women Want which is perfect as I’ve seen it dozens of times and it shouldn’t distract me except for that bathroom scene maybe. lol.

So, I thought I’d share where Buddy and I will be spending at least the next 5 hrs and after that we’ll probably head for bed and read there(ignore the mess!). As you can see he is already on his blanket although he’s already moved to right beside my feet. Here is also a picture of my goodie table for the night. There is also yogurt in the fridge and some cookies I didn’t put out and must go get. One never knows what they might be craving.

Here is my progress. Not great as I was sleeping.

  • Pages Read: 30
  • Pages in Total: 234 (pathetic)
  • Time Spent Reading: Didn’t keep track.
  • Time Spent Blogging: zero
  • Blogs Visited: zero

I think I’m going to visit a few blogs before I get back to reading. I’m hooked on Mistress of the Sun but I think I’ll finish the chapter I’m on and move on to Too Hot to Handle-I need something chick-lity for a while. Hope everyone is doing well with their reading and having fun!
